When Jay moved to Berlin from Australia, he realised something frustrating: the health insurance advice available to expats was biased. With the broker commissions for private health insurance being almost 40 times the commissions for public health insurance, there was a bias in the market to recommend private health insurance. Both systems have their pros and cons and we believe that the user should know all the facts before they decide on the best option for their use case.

So Jay partnered with Jens - a veteran of the German insurance industry with over a decade of experience - to build the tool he wished he’d had. Surenest is designed by people who understand both the expat experience and the complexity of the German insurance. We have no ties to insurance companies. We have one mission: helping you make the right choice.
